Jackie Robinson

Without this man there would be know Michael Jordan, Lebron James, Kobes, Ken Griffey, and any other black athletes we look up to. He sacrificed for all of us to succeed, and it hurts me to see that it's not that many black players in the MLB anymore.

Buying Freedom?

This Senator said prisoners dont deserve ocean views. What else do they have, to keep them somewhat sane?

Could one of California's most valuable assets be San Quentin Prison? ABC News has a compelling piece which highlights the fact that the San Quentin State Prison in San Quentin, California actually is located on a pretty prime piece of waterfront real estate. Some people think the state could sell this land and get up to $2 billion.San Quentin's history began in 1851 and the 432-acre site is the home of the state's oldest prison. Way back then it was a remote location but now the prison is surrounded by prime Bay Area real estate. State Senator Jeff Denham says prisoners don't need ocean views and he is hoping the state can auction off the prison complex to private developers and use the money to build new prisons in other locations.Denham's plan is a bit of a pipe dream. Finding a new location for a death-row prison would be complicated and there isn't any developer who is interested in the property for the $2 billion price. Nevertheless Denham continues to try to introduce legislation to sell the prison. His proposal has never made it to a vote on the Senate floor but a committee hearing on it this year is scheduled for March 31.

WOW!

Glass River House, NY

This striking glass house in the town of Cornwall-on-the-Hudson in New York was designed by Barbara Corwin and inspired by the Pompidou Center in Paris. The steel and glass home has views of the Hudson RIver and the surrounding forests. The home is constructed of special R-16 coated glass & 40' steel beams. Tennessee marble, French limestone, wide plank quarter sawn white oak floors, Anigre wood (from Ivory Coast) custom cabinetry, stainless steel mantels and railings add to the distinctive feel of the home. Part of the sense of airiness comes from the floating spiral stairs, accented glass floors and etched glass wall panels. The three-bedroom home includes a media room, with a concealed minibar and sliding doors to a private deck with panoramic views. A second catering kitchen is located in the heated garage and a large observation deck offers a place to entertain or take in the views. This distinctive home is listed at $5.5 million.

Damn, this almost made me look foolish for my last post. This crib is amazing to say the least but to be considered great you MUST have a pool.

Lake of Isles

Minneapolis's Lake of the Isles Parkway was built in 1911. The four-bedroom home was built in 1911 but has been completely renovated into a modern home. It was last sold in 2004 for $4 million. The decor is a bit fanciful, the kitchen has the word "eat" stenciled against the countertop and a ceiling decorated like a checked tablecloth and murals that mimic curtain draperies decorate other walls. The most overdone room is the colorful children's playroom which includes a giant beach umbrella. Furnishings aside, the home's natural lines are classically graceful with a large skylight adding plenty of natural light
